후 원츠 투 행아웃 인 서울?

올해로 3년 째. ‘키아프리즈’ 때 ‘흥겨운 파티에만 집중하지 말고 한국의 아티스트북과 전시 관련 출판물을 진지하게 열람해보자!’를 표방하는 공개 행사, “후 원츠 투 행아웃 인 서울”이 개최됩니다.

이 행사는 RSVP도 필요없고, 입장료도 없습니다. 책이 궁금하면 누구든 올 수 있어요. 실제로 2022년 HUO씨는 폭우를 뚫고 자정이 넘어 행사장에 등장하기도 했고, 2023년에는 부산에서 고속버스를 타고 들러 준 미술학도 분도 있었습니다.

매거진 Frieze의 에디터 Lisa Yin Zhang은 “후 원츠 투 행아웃 인 서울”을 프리즈 서울 아트페어 기간의 ‘에디터스 픽’으로 꼽아주기도 했는데요.

Who Wants to Hang Out in Seoul?

We’re pleased to announce the third annual Who Wants to Hang Out in Seoul. This open gathering takes place during Kiaf/Frieze, encouraging everyone to ‘take a break from the overly lively parties and take time to explore Korean artists’ books and exhibition-related publications.’

Event Details

• Date: September 4, 2024 (Wednesday) during ‘Samcheong Night’
• Time: 7:30 PM – 2:00 AM (next day)
• Venue: ‘Seoul Reading Room’ (5 Jahamun-ro 28-gil, Jongno-gu / 자하문로 28길 5)
• Admission: Free
• No RSVP required

Everyone curious about the Korean art scene and books is welcome. In previous years, we’ve had some notable moments:

• In 2022, HUO made a surprise appearance after midnight, braving heavy rain.
• In 2023, a dedicated art student traveled all the way from Busan by bus to join us and read books for hours.

Plus, we’re happy that Lisa Yin Zhang, editor at Frieze magazine back in 2023, featured our event as an ‘Editor’s Pick’ during the Frieze Seoul art fair. [LINK]

What we want to see with “Who Wants to Hang Out in Seoul” is:

• For visitors, especially those from abroad, to discover interesting Korean artists and exhibitions through publications (they can take photos with their phones)
• To inspire further research when they return home
• To spark new connections born from a shared love and interest in art
